The clipper beautifully emulates the effects of two famous mastering converters, allowing you to bring your masters to life with three unique settings. The modern and classic settings are tuned to match the character of their hardware counterparts and Hard is a custom setting that maintains the integrity of the signal up until the clip point.  

Gold is the compressor you never knew existed. It compresses the audio, but does so without the artifacts associated with attack and release that you hear on classical compressors. The compression is instantaneous, like the compression effect from the magnetization of tape, but does not effect the spectral balance of the signal like tape. Gold significantly increases perceived loudness of your tracks while leaving peaks and transients untouched.

Alchemy can be considered digital tape. Alchemy reduces the harmonic effects of clipping by contouring the mid and high frequencies down by as much as 2 dB after the signal is clipped. Mid and high frequencies are reduced as the input signal approaches the clip point, softening the harmonics that may occur when clipping. The sonic effect closely resembles the high-frequency saturation of tape, while leaving the rest of the signal untouched.

Boxtone uses an ultra-precision linear phase EQ to mimic the high-frequency contour of the modern and classic devices. The EQ subtly smooths the high frequencies while filtering out ultrasonic information. Below 1kHz the signal is perfectly flat.

Gold Clip’s unique Clip Clock feature shows you the min:sec of the song where the highest level of clipping takes place. The goal when using gold clip is to clip as cleanly as possible and Gold and Alchemy processing to increase loudness. Clip Clock tells you where the maximum amount of clipping takes place in the song allowing you to dial in the perfect amount of clipping for every record.

Unlike most plugins with a mix-blend function, Gold Clip is a true parallel mixer. With Gold Clip you can unlink the dry & wet signal and operate them independent of one another. Heavily distort the signal and blend that distortion in to the 100% dry signal for bottom up distortion. Subtly clip your song and then and add peaks back by blending in the dry signal. The unlinked mixer opens up a world of possibilities that is not possible with other clippers.

Gold Clip offers a unique implementation of the AB comparisons function often found in plugins. When you first open Gold Clip both A and B states are active— they are both lit up. As you make your changes they are applied to both A and B states. When you click A or B they become unlinked; allowing you make more detailed changes to one plug-in state for comparison.
